Workforce Planning- Organizational Design Lead

Summary:

The Organizational Design (OD) Lead will establish enterprise capabilities in the areas of organizational design and organizational effectiveness, serving as the OD subject matter expert for the enterprise. This position reports into the Leader of Workforce Insights and Workforce Planning.  The OD Lead will have substantial experience in: the assessment of operating models; the design of organization structures; and the connection of OD to change management and talent planning.  The OD Lead should be a solution-oriented leader with an extensive background in solving challenging stakeholder issues while working in matrixed environments. This position will help shape and develop a dynamic, high-performing Tyson culture.

Responsibilities include:
  • Enable Tyson's leadership at multiple levels (Executive, Business Unit/BU, and HR leadership) to meet current and future challenges by assessing operating models and developing future organization structures.  Future organization structures should be aligned with our corporate and BU strategies; Tyson's values; and desired business outcomes, in the context of changes in the external environment.
  • Design and execute key programmatic elements for a scalable, repeatable organizational design process at Tyson.
  • Partner on organizational transformation efforts.
  • Conduct operating model and organizational design workshops with the business and Strategic HRBPs in response to business strategy changes or new strategic directions.
  • Establish a core OD team to develop OD strategies, frameworks, and enabling content like playbooks/toolkits for Operating Model (Re)Design and OD, with the goal of scaling the impact of OD for Strategic HRBPs (on less complex OD projects).
  • Leverage data and analytics to provide insights into organizational design opportunities.
  • Assess and recommend technology and platforms to support a more consistent, streamlined organizational design service.
  • Develop strong partnerships with Finance, Compensation, and Change Management colleagues, and with Strategic HRBPs; develop, document, and execute best practices for smooth transitions and hand-offs from the core OD team to partner functions for execution.


Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, HR, Industrial and Organizational Psych (IO Psych), or other BA/BS with some quantitative or analytical component. A Master's is a plus, but not required. 
  • Equivalent work experience in areas like Operating Model Development, Organizational Structure and Design, Strategic Workforce Planning, Workforce Strategy, Capability Mapping, Organizational Assessment, or Organization Governance will be considered in lieu of higher education. 
  • Exceptional, strategic HRBPs with substantial hands-on experience in WFS, OD, or transformation are also encouraged to apply.
  • 7+ years relevant work experience

  • Computer Skills: High degree of comfort with HRIS and HCM systems like Workday, SuccessFactors, or similar.  In particular: software modules or platforms specific to OD, e.g.: Org Studio, OrgVue, or similar.  Strong general computer skills in Microsoft including Word, and especially Excel and PowerPoint.  Visio is a plus but not required.

  • Communication Skills: This position is expected to communicate recommendations and strategically influence across a broad range of users, stakeholders, and management. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills required. The OD Lead must be able to adapt their communication style for all levels within the organization.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education
Familiarity with the role of HR and OD in the Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) process (or interest in learning) is a plus but not a requirement.
