Position Overview
ATL is seeking a dynamic Electro Mechanical Support Engineer to join our team of dedicated professionals focused on client service and quality. The ideal candidate will be motivated, energetic, forward thinking, and possess outstanding leadership development and/or technical skills, organizational awareness, and a commitment to excellence. 
 
Major Responsibilities:
  • Support the day to day Electrical needs of the product teams to include soldering, bread boarding, and fabrication of various electrical and electronic circuits in support of the business objective.
  • Support the day to day Mechanical needs of the product teams to include fixture design, assembly, debug and maintenance of various pieces of mechanical test equipment.
  • Perform structural, functional, and metrology evaluations using Instron/MTS type equipment as well as other testing methods/instruments.
  • Soldering and prototyping skills (surface mount, through-hole and cable assemblies).
  • Troubleshooting and modifications of complex and small gauge cable assemblies.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuit card assemblies to the component level
  • Experience with schematic capture (generating, updating and maintaining schematics).
  • Regular use of DVM, oscilloscope, function generator, impedance analyzer, and vector signal analyzer.
  • Execution of soldering iron and hot air soldering techniques for construction and fabrication of test box enclosures.
  • Maintaining consistent wiring colors and schemes with documentation of circuit builds for future duplication.
  • Maintaining and organizing work spaces in a research & development environment.
  • Support efforts to monitor and enforce safety compliance.
  • Monitor and replenish inventory in 5-S work spaces as required.
  • Develop and document new procedures as appropriate.
  • Managing customers with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Assist with testing in the animal tissue lab as needed.
Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate mechanical & electrical test and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot and communicate findings to engineers and team members with minimal instruction.
  • Ability to understand mechanical and electrical drawings, engineering concepts mechanisms, fixtures, tooling, etc. needed.
  • The ability to design printed wiring boards using rapid prototype software is a strong plus.
  • Ability to design and develop electronic test hardware (analog and digital) for product test applications would be a strong plus.
  • Generation of schematics and detailed parts lists
  • Ability to use and debug software on test applications (Linnux). Working knowledge of mechanical testing systems is required.
  • LabView programming and python programming experience is strongly preferred.
  • MTS Suite experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in programming, troubleshooting and maintaining robotic equipment and/or applications is a strong plus.
  • Detailed fine pitch soldering and component level troubleshooting is required.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Must possess strong ability to work well under pressure meeting deadlines in an ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
