Human Resources Paid Internship

Human Resources Paid Internship - $15/Hour

The Human Resources Department’s mission is “To create, support and activate a culture of Employee Engagement & Total Well-Being, which will drive the current & future success of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.” We are looking for a reliable and energetic HR student to join our team in support of this mission, and to learn more about the HR function.

Position Summary:  What will you do for us? We want to capitalize on the strengths & interests you have for your HR career, but we need specific support in the areas of:

  • Recruitment administration (postings, sourcing, screening, etc.)
  • Supporting and possibly performing Zoo Way New Employee Orientation sessions
  • HR Project work (DEIA Program, Compensation Analysis, Job Description revisions, etc.
  • Opportunities to learn all aspects of HR function!

Position Details:

Hours:  Flexible to balance with school schedule, as needed; Can work up to 40 hrs./week during summer; 16 hrs./week during school year; Between the core business hours are 9:00 – 5:00pm Mon-Fri.

This does not have to be just the summer or a semester, it can cross over and go the entire school year.

Pay:   $15.00/hour

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Must be enrolled in a Human Resources-related degree
  • Must be eligible to be paid through the UC Service Learning Program
  • Previous HR work experience welcomed, but not necessary

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A positive attitude is a must! (We need Tiggers, not Eeyores)
  • Possess excellent customer service skills; ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships within the organization as well as with outside vendors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse personalities; tactful; mature; flexible
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self motivated - Must be able to work independently with little supervision
  • Command of Windows-based software and applications is required
  • An understanding and affinity to the mission of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is a must

Working Conditions/Other Requirements:  Employment is contingent upon passing a drug screen and nicotine screen and satisfactory background investigation. While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent is regularly required to stand, walk, and have the manual dexterity to use computer mouse and keyboard. The incumbent may be exposed to outside weather conditions and must be able to lift/move/carry up to 25 pounds without assistance.
