Chemical/Materials Engineer

  • Coordinates the preparation, mixing, and vulcanizing process for rubber.
  • Read and understand the different specifications to perform material testing. Common tests include heat aging, fluid resistance, compression properties, and low temperature testing,
  • Set-up tests and evaluations in the Materials Engineering Laboratory.
  • Responsible for the development of new materials to meet the needs of our internal and external consumers.
  • Analyze data, draw conclusions, present finding to peers and management and document results in reports.
  • Responsible for working with rubber suppliers to get the proper materials to meet the required specifications.
  • Optimize the rubber material of each project based on the application.
  • Knowledge of polymers and polymers properties.
  • Coordinate material evaluations through external labs for tests including rhinometry, DSC, TGA, FTIR, and spectrometry.
  • Analyze products for possible contamination.
  • Participate in new research and development projects.
  • Maintenance of the laboratory and its machinery.
  • Participate in meetings and effectively communicate with project leaders.
