Job Description: Mechanical and BOM Engineer

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with internal and customer designer and engineer teammates to meet the design and technical data package requirements of a project.
- Create conceptual sheet metal and mechanical designs based on customer and internal requirements.
- Develop library of sheet metal and mechanical, cable components in 3D software.
- Develop fully defined Electromechanical assembly and part files of final design.
- Modify existing Electromechanical assembly and part files to changing requirements.
- Generate formal, production-level engineering drawings for sheet metal fabrication.
- Select, specify and document purchased components and materials.
- Create bills of materials (BOM) and manufacturing assembly drawings.
- Initiate, review and release design, test, assembly, and design file changes via effective change control processes
- Research negative or excessive inventory due to BOM inaccuracy.
- Perform Value engineering.
- Support Contract Manufacturer (CM) for production and testing
- Create Engineering and Production field installation procedures for new or existing products.
- Oversee and/or participate in regression testing of new or existing products.
- Work with service department to resolve field issues.
- Spec. substitute mechanical components for purchasing.
- Consult with CM and Suppliers for ongoing improvement of quality.
- Provide level 3 technical support for products.
- Understand UL requirement and maintain product designs per UL requirements.
DESIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
· Experience with Fusion360 or Solidworks or a similar 3D modeling software package
· Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as individually.
· Knowledgeable in the tolerance capabilities of sheet metal manufacturing processes.
· CAD experience with sheet metal, hardware, cables, and cable routing.
· Experience in managing multilevel Bill of Materials, managing Engineering Change Control.
· Experience with a PLM software a plus.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 1-3 years’ experience and a strong background in designing electromechanical sheet metal enclosure, working in 3D modeling software, and managing BOM.
