Staff Scientist

Position Title: Staff Scientist
 
Position Summary:
This position will broadly contribute to the creation of bioinformatics tools and the use of those tools to perform biomedical analyses. Initially, this position will focus on exploring biomedical use cases that leverage the tools being developed in the lab (including, for example, BioThings Explorer and Wikidata). Our lab has a particular interest in drug repurposing, infectious diseases, and Alzheimer's Disease, though applications can be drawn from any area of biology.
 
Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. in bioinformatics or another biomedical discipline. At least two years of experience programming in Python to conduct biomedical research. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior expertise with the following is preferred:
• Jupyter notebooks
• Developing biomedical APIs
• Drug repurposing, infectious diseases, and/or Alzheimer's Disease
• Working as part of a diverse, multidisciplinary team
 
Location:
La Jolla, California or Remote Employment
 
Physical Requirements:
This position works in an office environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
 
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
