CREW Plant Summer Internship II

CREW’s Plant Research Division is currently accepting applications for a 12-week summer internship, funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for the project: Establishing the Exceptional Plant Cryo Bank: Collaborative Research for Ex Situ Conservation of Endangered Exceptional Plants. This intern will assist a graduate student in extracting DNA from Hawaiian plant samples and carrying out appropriate DNA fragment replication (or PCR) based on the needs of each species.

Requirements: Undergraduate degree or degree in progress in biology with a focus on plants and a genetics background. The successful applicant will also have good observational skills, a strong work ethic, familiarity with databases and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), proficiency in English with good writing skills.

This position is part-time, for 20 hr/week for 12 weeks, with a pay rate of $11/hr. Starting date can be in May or early June, depending on applicant’s academic schedule.
