CincyTech - Investment Analyst
Company Information
CincyTech is a public-private partnership whose mission is to invest in high performing life science and technology companies in Ohio. Our team provides advice and capital to entrepreneurs, helps research institutions commercialize technology through startups, and catalyzes investment from individuals and institutions into regional companies.
We provide the following services:
- Seed-stage investments through early stage venture funds.
- Connections to a network of resources for assistance.
- Management assistance to help accelerate the growth of promising technology companies.
- Capital formation assistance to provide access to current follow-on rounds of capital from angel and institutional investors regionally and nationally.
Job Description
Perform due diligence on prospective investment opportunities and provide portfolio company and fund operations support, including:
- Initial review of applications to CincyTech for criteria compliance
- Research of markets, competition, trends, and financings related to proposed startups
- Performance of ‘deep dive’ due diligence on selected startups targeted for investment
- Working with Investment Analysts/Associates in preparation of funding proposals
- Tracking company pipeline status and portfolio company financings
By the end of the internship, the students will have:
- Conducted initial research on new market opportunities
- Conducted in-depth marketing, financial, and competitive analysis on business plans
- Completed a multi-week externship at a CincyTech portfolio company
- Assisted in the creation of funding documents for at least one company
- Assisted in creating and delivering the funding presentation for the investment committee and co-investment partners as appropriate
- Met with company founders and ecosystem leaders
- Attended venture capital and start-up networking events
- Gained real-world entrepreneurial and venture capital experience
