Rate: $36,000-$44,000 (commensurate with experience)

Job Duties:        
Duties in the Environmental Health Division will include but not be limited to:
·        Conduct inspections and complaint investigations on food operations, swimming pools/spas, body art facilities, campgrounds, schools, institutions and manufactured home parks
·        Investigate animal bite reports of the Rabies Prevention Program
·        Prepare and document inspection reports; maintain accurate files and other office records
·        Conduct education presentations to promote improved environmental practices
Duties in the Water and Waste Division will include but not be limited to:
·        Conduct inspections of new and existing sewage treatment systems, private water systems, solid waste facilities, water hauling vehicles, and septage hauling vehicles
·        Investigates complaints of public health nuisances and safety hazards
·        Prepare and document inspection reports; maintain accurate files and other office records
·        Collect water and sewage samples
·        Conduct education presentations to promote improved environmental practices
Minimum Qualifications:
·        Must possess Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health or related science (Biology, chemistry, etc.) which meets the educational requirements set forth by the Ohio Sanitarian Board per Chapter 4736 of the Ohio Revised Code
·        Ability to obtain Sanitarian-in-Training (SIT) status and become a Registered Sanitarian (RS) within 2 years of employment
·        Current RS or SIT registration preferred, but not required
·        Required to have basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft office suite and the ability to learn new computer software
·        Must be able to lift 75 lbs
·        Must be able to work with the public daily
·        Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
·        Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
·        Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends
·        Must be willing to work outside
·        Required to have regular and predictable attendance
