YOUR POSITION WITH TNC
The Michigan chapter is looking for an experienced HR specialist to help build and maintain a collaborative, dynamic, effective, diverse team culture by providing human resource services in the following functions: employee relations, staff enrichment, talent management, benefits, staff recruitment, development and training, organizational development, workplace culture, and achieving our goals as an organization to develop a diverse and inclusive workforce, and to live our values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The MI Human Resources Specialist is responsible for administering and maintaining efficient and supportive HR systems, programs, procedures and plans according to HR policies. This position will provide assistance to all levels of personnel on various HR-related issues and requests, and work closely with the Management Team to cultivate and support a healthy effective team culture. These duties include recruitment; employee relations, performance support and evaluation; staff enrichment, engagement and cultural initiatives.
More specifically, the expectations under these duties involve:  
Recruiting: Helping the MI team recruit a talented experienced diverse workforce by overseeing the design of position descriptions; recruiting, and screening candidates; conducting outreach and developing relationships with external partners and organizations in seeking diverse talented candidate pools; planning, tracking and overseeing the interview and hiring process; and overseeing effective new employee onboarding programming.  
Employee Relations: Helping the MI team support its employees and provide services that assure an equitable and fair work experience including: analyzing and tracking equity and pay; facilitating promotions, transfers and compensation changes; providing FMLA leave assistance; and providing benefits assistance. 
Performance Support and Evaluation: Helping the MI team in providing professional development support and effective performance evaluation processes. These duties include overseeing ongoing, mid and year-end coaching and appraisal processes; managing annual merit increase processes; helping identify professional development opportunities; and facilitating and supporting managers in evaluation of introductory periods of new employees. 
Staff Enrichment, Engagement, and Cultural Initiatives: Helping the MI team achieve its goals in creating a positive, healthy, diverse, collaborative work environment, including developing and implementing the team’s staff enrichment plan; overseeing the MI team’s continued focus on TNC’s “Living Our Values” initiative; leading the MI “People Team” group and initiatives; and conducting staff engagement survey analyses and overseeing resulting action plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
Responds to complex employee/management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of aspects applicable to the subject area.                                                                 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
·      Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 years related work experience in area(s) of specialization or equivalent combination.
·      Experience coordinating and leading projects.
·      Experience responding to HR related questions and managing employee relations challenges and employee/management issues.
·      Experience in one or more of the following areas: database management and spreadsheet software; constructing and producing reports; data input, manipulation, and analysis.
·      Experience working with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
·      Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
·      Advanced understanding of fundamental HR concepts, processes, and services.
·      Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
·      May require fluency in foreign language(s) to support global operations.
·      Ability to travel.
