Product Manager

Location:  Kohler, WI

Under the direction of the Director – Marketing, the Product Manager is responsible for development, profitability, growth and maintenance of the air-cooled residential home standby generator product line. This includes strategic market and financial planning, competitive analyses, product development support, product specifications, cross functional project management, cost reductions and aftermarket product support. Works closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Quality and Channel Marketing to improve competitive position and increase market share.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute VOC strategies for product roadmap to support marketing scope development
  • Routinely analyze and update competitive landscape, reporting on changes to KOHLER product advantages and areas to exploit market weaknesses to gain market share
  • Develop comprehensive review and impact analysis of compliance regulations governing residential standby applications. Proactively identify risks and develop plans for ensuring product line is compliant with pending requirements.
  • Complete analysis of serviceability on residential standby generators to identify paths for improvement for dealers
  • Complete thorough analysis of installation process, identifying non-value-added processes and innovations to drive efficiency in channel
  • Execute overall kit/accessory strategy providing monthly sales analysis with volume, margin and identify areas for promotion
  • Identify low margin BOM/QS models and work with Purchasing and Engineering to root out costing issues, supply chain issues to improve margins
  • Work with GFS, CFR System and SPD to identify projects for improving existing product lines. Establish project scope to implement improvements on legacy product.
  • Establish roadmap of connectivity and user experience for home standby generators based on multimarket analysis, identifying means consumers connect with products
Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Marketing required; MBA preferred
  • Experience with technical product, product management and scope development for multi-functional teams
  • Excellent marketing knowledge and market sense with strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Hands-on, detail oriented, energetic and results-driven
  • Multi-task ability to handle pressure and conflicts
  • Good command of software such as PowerPoint, Excel, SAP, etc
  • Must be able and willing to travel up to 20% of time.
