Duration: Fall 2020, typically a few hours weekly for approximately 5 weeks starting in September 2020

SUMMARY
The Remote Art Instructor develops and delivers remote virtual art classes to children ages 5 to 13, leveraging themes or topics relating to the Museum’s collection, exhibitions, and other public offerings. Contracts for this position are issued per class each term, dependent upon class enrollment. Instructors work remotely.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Presents Museum classes by creating and delivering remote virtual art lessons based upon a theme or topic related to TMA’s collection or exhibitions and are responsive to youth interests.
- Performs related administrative duties preliminary and/or following class sessions, including but not limited to submitting lesson plans for in advance.
- Attends training and evaluation meetings as scheduled.
- May work with assistants to communicate need for supplies and request other program maintenance.
- May be required to observe and attend to students during breaks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- As a public benefit corporation, the Museum requires every staff member to act as a visitor advocate at all times. This includes acknowledging visitors and striving to make them feel welcome, comfortable, and eager to return.
EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years’ teaching experience, preferably with youth students.
- Familiarity with digital technology for art making and education methods.
- Willingness to adjust and adapt methods to accommodate emphasis on Museum pedagogy and resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with people of a wide variety of ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Experience, interest, and enthusiasm in working with youth in an art museum, classroom or cultural setting.
- Knowledgeable of or willing to learn about the Museum’s collections.
- Basic computer skills: ability to use internet and e-mail; knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screen.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position requires stamina to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to communicate verbally person‐to‐person.
