Economic Development Intern (Business Retention)

The Economic Development Intern will be responsible primarily for assisting the Business Retention and Expansion Specialist Programs and Initiatives in the Economic Development Department. This will include database maintenance; communication with professional businesses, which includes telephone calls, drafting letters –both traditional mail and email- and personal visits; various types of support for event preparation and execution; recording meeting results into CRM program; assistance with creation of reports by assessing data sets; filing; miscellaneous data entry; meeting attendance; general organizational duties; and various additional responsibilities that may be identified throughout the engagement of the internship. 

Primary Skill Sets Required:
·         Proficient command of all basic Microsoft Office programs
·         Proficient use of the English language
·         Writing Skills
·         Above average Communication Skills
·         Telephone skills and confidence to call businesses
·         Understanding of professional environment
·         Will be required to sign non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements due to the nature of Economic Development and government information they will be exposed to.
