Cyber and IT Risk Advisory Intern - Summer 2022

The Position:
Marcum interns gain valuable experience by applying knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world applications. With comprehensive training and supervision, our interns gain a hybrid experience on a variety of Risk Advisory Service engagements. This exciting experience will provide our interns with essential professional skills that will lead to a successful career in Risk Advisory Services.

Here’s what you can expect to do:
  • Provide support to audit staff by assisting with detail testing, audit testing documentation, planning, field work, engagement wrap up and report composition
  • Learn and utilize technologies and professional standards/ practices; applies knowledge in performing work
  • Assist with various administrative functions under the direction of management
  • Develop a working knowledge of firm technology, procedures, and policies
  • Develop relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels
  • Engage in firm civic, community and volunteer activities

Our firm offers full-time, paid internships throughout the academic year. Interns require a commitment of 32 hours per week with a flexible work schedule based on the candidate’s academic schedule.

Qualifications:
  • Current student enrolled in a university/college program leading to a Bachelor or Master of Science in a related discipline such as Accounting or Finance, Accounting Information Systems (AIS), or Management Information Systems (MIS)
  • Strong academic credentials (3.0 GPA with 3.5+ GPA highly preferred)
  • The ideal candidate will have completed at least one Auditing course and one Accounting Information Systems course
  • Diverse computer skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Desire to pursue applicable professional certification(s) (i.e. CISA, CIA, CISM, CISSP, CPA, etc.)

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, high level of enthusiasm, integrity and professionalism
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize tasks and finalize projects
  • Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance
