Job Description
Mechanical Engineers are the rock bed of GM. We were able to build the company we are today with the innovation, teamwork, and dedication our Mechanical Engineers brought to our vehicles. But now we are looking to push it even further. This rotational opportunity is an early career development initiative for new hires designed to build foundational skills, to gain greater exposure and to better understand our business. This role aims to develop and strengthen the future of our organization through rotational development, networking and annual development opportunities. This program requires a two-year commitment and consists of 4 six-month assignments. Upon completion of the program, participants are matched to opportunities based on interest and business needs.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and test physical components and systems for our existing and upcoming vehicles
  • Lead and direct the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical hardware components
  • Act as primary accountable contact for any issues/concerns during the product lifecycle
  • Ensure work gets done in both a team setting and individually you will develop, improve and integrate the product through testing of design and feature modifications
  • Demonstrate product safety, integrity, and quality through testing

Additional Job DescriptionQualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering or Materials Engineering
  • ABET accredited program preferred
  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be graduating between October 2020 and June 2021
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of Mechanical Engineering Principles. EX: system dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, virtual design modeling and simulation, failure mode analysis, HVAC, thermal management Efficient use of Software Programs: NX, TeamCenter, MATLAB Simulink

  • Prior internship experience in automotive or technology
  • Demonstrate leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities or service organizations
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative and is proactive
