Data Analyst, Intern

Role Description
This is a temporary position to be performed by as part of a Co-op starting in May 2020. The position will include data wrangling, analysis and presentation of lab and manufacturing data generated in PharmSci Small Molecules (PSSM). The position will work in collaboration of the Data & Digital Innovation group in Groton CT.

Responsibilities
The Data & Digital Innovation group in Pharmaceutical Sciences is responsible for supporting new initiatives with regard to data and digital technologies for Pharmaceutical Sciences. Pharmaceutical Sciences is a leader in the design, development and clinical manufacture of innovative medicines. The 2020 coop will create a quantitative link between formulation properties and process conditions to tablet breaking force and disintegration time.  This work will enable creation of design strategies for drug product development and process variables to meet target performance attributes, advancing the quality-by-design paradigm. Responsibilities will include the following:
- Research and investigate available sources of data
- Query, collect and retrieve relevant data from data sources
- Select, clean and prepare data for analyses
- Develop and evaluate multiple models for prediction of outcome variables
- Tune selected model for optimal performance
- Support deployment of model into manufacturing workflow
- Create documentation of work
In addition, the role will evaluate multiple data science platforms/tools and help in selecting the best
tool for PSSM colleagues.
This is a unique opportunity to apply informatics, analysis and machine learning to improve process design and understanding of Pharmaceutical manufacturing processes within a major Pharmaceutical R&D organization.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
-Students in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer/Data Science, or other relevant fields and have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies
-Strong academic performance - Minimum GPA 3.0

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
-Proven track record of delivery of projects/commitments
-Solid experience with data analysis and model building
-Good communication skills
-Skilled at working independently and as part of a team
