Fall Internship: Education Program
About the Education Program Internship
The Inter-American Dialogue seeks an intern to join its education team. The intern will support junior and senior staff in a range of activities. S/he will have initiative, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. The position brings a committed individual into contact with an active group of civil society leaders, policymakers, and academics in the field of education policy in Latin America and exposes them to cutting-edge policy issues in education.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Conduct research on education policy and human development issues in Latin America and the Caribbean;
- Track education trends on topics such as skills development, use of technology in education, teacher practices, and early childhood development, among others;
- Support with dissemination of book on English Language Learning in Latin America
- Attend and report on Washington DC area meetings;
- Assist with logistics of public events, conferences, and ad hoc meetings;
- Write, edit, and translate articles for PREAL Blog and the education webpage of the Inter-American Dialogue in English and Spanish;
- Assist with management of the education program’s social media accounts;
- Edit the education database and add publications from the Dialogue’s archives to the new website.
Interns should:
- Be enrolled in a college or university as a graduate or undergraduate student or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship
- Demonstrate interest in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Have strong writing and research abilities
- Be proficient in English and Spanish (Portuguese a plus)
- Be available for a minimum of ten 35-hour weeks during the summer or eight 20-hour weeks during the fall or spring

Applications for the Fall 2020 internship are due on July 24.
NOTE: The Dialogue’s Internship Program for Fall 2020 will be remote. Applicants do not have to be based in DC. Circumstances permitting, interns may have the opportunity to participate in a combined in-person/remote internship at the Dialogue’s DC office. This may be an option later in the semester. However, interns can still choose to continue their internship remotely if they prefer or if they are not based in DC.
Although the Dialogue does review each resume, the volume of applications we receive makes it impossible for us to communicate directly with all applicants. We will notify you if you are selected for a first-round interview.
